Can a hacked unit be upgraded directly

Any reason I should not just let my 134hr unit get upgraded from 1.3 to 2.0.1.

Other then the fact my MASTER drive will still be at 1.3.

Having 100+ hours changes the usage patterns of tivo units. I rarely think about program management, and I currently have 3 6hr mini-series including Dune in the buffer (tagged SUID) and will likely keep it there another couple of months.

btw, i'm using a Quantum 30gb A and a Maxtor 80mb B drive

Other than maybe trying to avoid downing 2.0.x twice in a short span of time, which can draw the ire of TiVo? It's probably recommended that you don't try to grab the 2.0 update until 5-6 months after 2.0 has finished rolling out, provided there's no other updates going on at the same time...

Of course, if it's working fine for you, then I suppose you don't *NEED* to restore the drive within the next 6+ months or so.

http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/confused.gif When you get upgraded, the entire "system" is upgraded, which includes both disks if there are two. In fact, the MFS (or portions thereof) are converted to the 2.0 format the first time 2.0 is booted, making it impossible (that us users know of) to ever revert back to 1.3.

So, effectively, the 2.0 upgrade is "permanent", unless you have a 1.3 backup and you restore it (and rebless your B drive, if there is such).

Don't sweat it - the normally-enhanced machine upgrades itself perfectly, and it's pretty unlikely you'll need to use your backup in the near future anyway, so the odds on you having to restore to 1.3 and download 2.01 again in a short period and annoy TiVo are favorable.

I love it when the right thing to do is also the easiest.
