Upgrading both hard drives

Hi, I'm a newbie! I'm wondering if you can buy a single drive unit, then upgrade the single drive to 80 MB and add a second drive to it. This must be impossible for some reason, but I haven't read about it in the FAQ or anywhere else I could find. What is the reason not to do this?

I've already ordered tools and a drive bracket!

Spence, I've read the entire FAQ, (several times) and I don't see an explicit answer to my question... so is it possible to do this... or not? If the answer is "NOT", it seems to me that I should buy the biggest (meaning longest recording capacity) unit I can, and then add the biggest B drive I can find... correct?

Although this has been done, those that know how feel that the procedure is too dangerous for the 'masses' at this point. Presumably a utility to remove some of the risk will eventually be published.

Doh! sorry about that, getting old...memory going! It has been discussed many times so I just thought it was in the FAQ!! Anyway, you can add an 80 Gig drive but currently you can't replace the "A" dive with a larger drive.

No! The 60 hour units have two drive already so they can NOT be upgraded any further. The best you could do is get a single drive 30 hour unit and then add the largest drive possible to it.

Dan, thanks, I meant to say "... buy the biggest SINGLE-DRIVE unit that I can..." and then upgrade from there.
