Contacting Philips

I returned my Tivo to Philips in El Paso for an authorized swap (spontaneous rebooting). After reading about some of the refurbs in the forum, I'm concerned that the one I get may be worse than my old one, if that is possible. I want to call to find out what they're going to send, but Tivo customer care says there is no way to contact them. Does anybody have a telephone number or email address?

This probably should have been posted in help. It won't do any good calling Philips. If you sent in a 30hr, there is a *very* small chance that you'll get a 2 drive unit in return but I wouldn't sweat it. The 2 drive units make up a small percentage of the 30hrs sold and haven't been widely sold new for over a year. I had my HDR31201 swapped out and got a HDR31203 in return.

Hey Clicker-

Based on my experience, the odds of getting an exchanged, working TiVo, are extremely slim.

I don't accept that there is no way to contact Philips. They're a big company. They have lots of employees. Some of them have to answer a phone.

If we can get a group together from this forum, we can get their attention. Personally, I'm waiting on TiVo #4, and I know of one other waiting on #5. Obviously, this is a ridiculous way to run a (refurb) businiess. We should get seriously vocal--I'm sure we'll get their attention.

Thoughts?

I have spoken to a Philips rep concerning the El Paso depot. He was quite helpful. He stated about the same info as in the second post by AndyK. Philips does not know what they have in the boxes there. Odds are in favor of a single drive since the dual drive HDR312's are a small percentage of production. Also, I called the El Paso depot and spoke to several people there, again very helpful. They don't have any way of knowing what's in the box. Not any numbers or anything to tell on the boxes what's inside as far as dual or single drive. Actually, the depot referred me to the Philips rep in Atlanta. I called, left a voice mail late in the afternoon, and he called me back the next morning. We had a lengthy talk. He's an AVS Forum member and reads the posts here. I'm surprised he didn't reply to your question.
