Want to create a backup A drive of my HDR212 (20 hr) unit before adding a second drive. What size is my originial drive?? I want to get the right size. Can't find the info in the FAQ...

Yours is a special drive from Quantum that, if you look up the model number, will say it's 20 gig. However it is in fact a 22 gig drive. You need a 30 gig drive for your backup.

Yeah, I found this out too when I tried to back it up to a slightly smaller 20 GB (Western Digital) drive. I wound up splitting it up into 650MB files and i'll put them on CD when I get the chance. I wound up with aroudn 13GB of files after -9 compression.

I advise not delaying burning the images to CD. Currently, those images sitting on your drive are the only backup you have, and hard drives can fail or become corrupted rather easily, especially when you're installing and removing drives frequently.
