It's not just thumbs, is it?

I don't have any kids (yet -- first one on the way), so I never record any children's programming. However, my wife's sister and brother-in-law are coming and bringing their children, so I decided to put some stuff on the TiVo for them (opportunity to plug the TiVo to the ones making purchasing decisions http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/wink.gif).

Anyway, I recorded a few of their favorites, being careful to immediately remove the implicit one thumb from them. Now all of a sudden it records "Teletubbies" as a suggestion! Is it possible the suggestion engine uses more than just thumbs (e.g. Now Playing and/or To Do List)?

Not complaining, just curious. My suggestions are otherwise very accurate. In fact, I trust TiVo more than my own family http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif (my parents told me a few times to watch The Fighting Fitzgeralds, and I never got around to it. Then one day my TiVo recorded it as a suggestion, so I decided to watch. It is now a season pass).

I've heard it mentioned that a zero thumb rating is higher than never having rated the show at all. So that might be what is happening to you.

Also, go through your "suggestions" list and see if any children shows are there...give them a "Thumbs Down" which should make them go away.

Oh my. I think i might have to consider erasing my entire recording history if a teletubbies showed up on there. Those things are pure evil. http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif

Recording History??? I would have to Low-Level Format my hard drives if those things ever showed up...that might not even be enough.... http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/biggrin.gif

I do have kids and have a season pass set up for "Arthur" (save max = 2, it's on about 4 times a day here) but didn't want TiVo to go off and record all of the other kid shows and fill up all my available space. So I gave Arthur an explicit Thumbs Down. That seemed to do the trick.

The other thing you can do with cartoons is set the recording quality to basic to save space. It's very hard to tell the difference (for me anyway).
