This is a weird one...

I have an HDR312 with (I'm fairly sure) 2 drives.
I also have various other TiVo's with different capacity.

Would an upgrade path be to copy a standard 14 hour (HDR112) Drive onto the A Drive of the HDR312. Make a backup onto the second HDR312 drive - place it on the shelf.

Upgrade using the regaular method.

This way I'll be using the B drive as a 14 hour backup, and making the A drive into a 14 hour drive ready to be paired with a blessed drive.

That should work fine. There may be some question as to whether or not it violates the copyright agreement, but technically it would work.
