Just got the new Philips DSR6000 but I'm confused/concerned about the two satellite inputs. I understand the second one will enable use of the second built-in DirecTV tuner in the future. The trouble is, last year I built a new home with ONE RG6 outlet to each room. I have the RCA DTC100 HDTV DirecTV receiver, which came with the elliptical two dual LNB dish and an included multiswitch. This (4x4) switch combines all FOUR signals from the "Oval 2" dish into four equal, combined outputs, which are then individually distributed through the walls of the new house to four rooms. (Even if I had a second RG6 to the room with the new DirecTV-Tivo unit, I wouldn't know what to do about the 4x4 multiswitch!) Do the two tuners in the DSR6000 REQUIRE the separate LNB outputs to be fed into the two Sat inputs, or will the first input get everything from the combined line? Or is there some way to split the combined coax back into two at the DSR6000? Or is there some other solution? I called the Philips Service solutions Group, but they said they hadn't a clue, that there was no way they could get any further info from their engineers, and that I should hire a professional installer. Any thoughts?

You will need to use seperate leads from the multiswitch fed into the DTiVo. Right now the DTivo will work just fine with only one feed. But if and when they activate the second tuner you will be losing some features. You can not just split one of the leads, it has to come from the multiswitch.

So I'll just have to find some way to get a second cable to the DirecTV-Tivo box. Won't be easy!

Here is a posiable solution. It has it draw back but will work. First if you have a High dif receiver it's cable must go to the 4x4 mutlitonemutliswitch that on the antenna, don't go thru any 2x4 multiswitch because as I understand it the 2x4 does not pass the tone needed to get to the 119* satalite.

Now connect any two of the other ouputs coming from the antenna's multitonee multiswitch to a 2x4,2x8 or 2x16 multiswitch ( which one depends on how many other receivers you want to connect to (remember to count the directivo second turner as a receiver)) then run the out put to where you need them. Remember that any of theses are a plus receiver you won't be able to get the 119* satalite but yu will get the main 110* satalite and all it's channels. I don't know except NASA chnnel is on the 119* satalite. But remember some area need the 119* satalite to get thier local channels on. So if it is important to you to get to the 19* satalite that plus receiver must be connected to the atenna's 4x4 multitonemultiswitch with it own cable not thru the multiswitch. So this setup would have some limitations.

Another solution without limitation is to install a second epitical dish with it 4x4 multitonemultiswitch and this would give you four more output to use. Although this may cost a little more but woul be easier to add to your already well layout system. http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif

I'm upgrading to the DSR6000 but I'm also keeping two older Directv receivers. I'm planning to upgrade my 18" dual LNB dish to the 24" elliptical dish. The 24" elliptical dish comes with a 4x4 multiswitch. Until I swap out the 18" dish with the 24" dish can I use the 4x4 multiswitch by connecting both cables coming from my 18" dual LNB dish to "Sat A" inputs of the 4x4 multiswitch and leave the "Sat B" inputs empty and then connect my three receivers to the 4x4's outputs? I realize I will not have access to the 119* satellite but that is fine -- I just want to know if the 4x4 multiswitch will pass the "Sat A" signals to the outputs without having the "Sat B" input connected to anything. Thanks for the info.

What you're suggesting should work, although I'm not sure whether it's the Sat A LNB on a 24" dish that points at 101 or whether it's Sat B... If the 'A' set of connectors doesn't work, try the 'B'.
