I'd like to buy a series2 box now but I don't have a phone line so I need the USB->Ethernet to work out of the box. Does it?

I highly doubt it.

The AT&T boxes are still running version 2.0.2.
No FF to Skip marks! No "Save Disk Space".

So I doubt that it has any NEW features yet. Just new hardware and 40 hours.
