Recently Tivo announced their intent to add VOD at some point in the future.

This move would seems like a conflict of interest for Tivo, seeing that major investors (AOL) and partners (ATT Broadband) are also trying to become VOD service providers.

I understand open market, best solution wins yada...yada...yada

But this must have raised some eyebrows over at AOL

Anybody care to comment?

Tivo plans to offer iVOD platform. They do NOT plan to offer pay-per-movies themselves.

Instead they are offering content providers a solution to sell PPV content to Tivo owners.

viola - no conflict!

ANY VOD ServiceProvider could just use Tivo/Radiance's VOD platform to send there content to a Tivo user.

Tivo has NO plans to start there own VOD content providing themselves. They only will offer other content providers the ability to sell stuff to Tivo owners.
