Damn, that was easy! (plus a couple comments on hinsdale instructions)

First of all, a huge thanks to the following...

The whole process took about a hour and a half (only because I read and re-read and re-read again everything that I was doing as I stepped through). I now have a Sony SAT-T60 that says "Recording time: Variable - up to 108 Hours". Last night I fired up a whole slew of recordings on both tuners. I already had 20+ hrs worth of stuff sitting there and added at least another 16 hours last night (so I know it had at least overspilled onto the new drive), and everything seems to be working without a hitch.

A couple of questions and comments on the hinsdale instructions...

Does the BlessTiVo command wipe the drive? I ask because I went through the backup procedure and restored the image to new my "B" drive. I booted it in the TiVo as the "A" drive to make sure that that backup worked. It did. But with that drive becoming the "B" drive, does BlessTiVo blow that backup data away or is it sitting on the drive taking up a gig or so that could otherwise be used for data storage?

Lastly, step 11 a bit vague for a DirecTiVo. The instructions call for the A drive to go closest to the master IDE connector and then for the B drive to be connected to the middle connector on the cable. I've never used cable select on IDE cables before so I don't think of the cables as having "master" and "slave" connectors, so I took that to mean that the A drive needed to go nearest the connector on the motherboard. I know that's not the intention of the wording, but that's how I took it. In this configuration, the cable supplied in the SAT-T60 (mine anway) isn't long enough. I had to put the B drive closest to the motherboard connector (toward the power supply) so that the cable routing went:

IDE (motherboard) -> B drive -> A drive

The bottom line is that it all went well and was very painless. Thanks again!

When you use Cable Select on a hard drive the "MASTER" drive would be the one on the end of the cable and the "SLAVE" drive would be the one in the middle of the cable. I just did this install yesterday and the middle connecter fit onto my "B" drive fine with it being on the outermost part of the bracket away from the fan. (Of course mine is the Philips DSR6000, but I thought the insides were exactly the same, maybe I am wrong) But technically it doesn't matter where the drives are mounted, only that if you have CS jumpered on the Hard Drive, that you have the cable hooked up properly. Otherwise what is happening is that your drives would be swapped.

Yes, the BlessTiVo command wipes the "B" drive clean of the information you previously restored to that drive.
