Blow away my A drive?

I have multiple problems:
First, I added a second drive and all went well. I ordered the Ethernet card and adapter, and after installing it, tried to use Jack's tivonethowto.html to install the En card. Although the script showed that it installed properly and that the card was "good", and I got a link light on my hub, I cannot ping the unit. Looking at Jack's howto, it says I should have the following in my directory:
122:$ ls /tivonet
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Mar 31 21:07 etc
drwx------ 2 0 0 1024 Mar 31 21:07 tivo-bin
drwxr-xr-x 21 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 modules
drwx------ 8 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 .
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 tcl
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 11 10:22 bin
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 11 11:17 sbin
Unfortunately, my tivonet directory shows:
122:$ ls /tivonet
total 6
drwx------ 2 0 0 1024 Mar 31 21:07 tivo-bin
drwxr-xr-x 21 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 modules
drwx------ 8 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 .
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 8 15:29 tcl
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Apr 11 10:22 bin
I tried re-installing, but I always come back to the same listing. Finally, I attempted to use Chris Worley's tivonetfloppy by taking the drives back out, putting them in my pc and booting with Dylan's bootdisk. After changing the script to reflect my settings (I did rem to use dos2unix), the system dies after it gets an error stating that my operating system is not set properly?
A) Have I done something totally wrong?
B) Should I blow the drive A away and start over by reloading my backup?
C) What are the ramifications in blowing away A; do I need to re-bless B?
I have spent waaaay too much time on something that should have been pretty simple. Maybe it's me that is simple?
:D
When I go back to the simple checks for probe.o, the system tells me I have the wrong version. I tried the only other probe.o version that I found, and it's the wrong one, too.
Any help would be appreciated.
