Dead A Drive, and backup drive (from last year) doesn't work...

My roommate discovered that the tivo (and old Phillips PTV100) was clicking this afternoon, and wasn't responding to the remote.

Rebooted the tivo, and got the screen cycle (tivo starting - just a few more seconds and then recycle).

Tried to use mfstools to backup the A drive, but it fails right away.

Put my backup tivo A drive in the pc, and tried mfstools again (thinking I could work from the backup), but the backup drive is totally dead....

Is there any chance I could beg a copy of a virgin backup from someone? I think I was running 2.5.

My current setup is (was, doh!) the original quantum 13gig and a maxtor 60gig that were married. If I get access (please, oh lord, please! I'm missing my Babylon5's already) to a virgin backup, will the data on the B drive be lost when I remarry them?

Have pity on this pour lost soul (ok, that might be overdoing it),
