Does picture quality suffer after upgrade?

I just did an upgrade using the Hinsdale, and put an 80 GB Maxtor 5400 in my Dtivo.
While, I now show 109 hours, Whoohoo, I have the feeling that the picture quality has gotten worse, considerably?
Is this an issue with the upgrade, or do you guys think that in the past week, the quality of the DTV signal has gone down hill in parallel?
Some items, I can't even make out, like lines in the background of shows, or some words on billboards on shows.
Any ideas,?

Drive space should have no connection to picture quality.
Either DirecTV has gotten worse for you, or you are just being more critical of your picture now that you are looking to ensure everything is "ok".

could drive quality be a factor?

The dtivos record the stream from DTV directly they do not decode and then rencoed it.
THere should be do change even with a poor quality drive, digital is digital...unless you used a really crap drive and it is either swaping bits or losing them in record/read...i dont think that would happen with a new dirve.
Cpuld be the DTV stream...the added more chanes and thuse compressed the signal more...or as agent86 said...you are just being more critical.
