Backing up 30gig Tivo..what size HDD?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)
Posted by: mykall
I'm planning an upgrade very soon and was just
wondering how big a HDD needed to be to
hold the backup of a 30 gig Phillips 312-04?
I assume that this does not backup the programs
just the OS and indexed data...right?
The reason I ask is that I'm on a budget and
want to use a HDD that I have on hand rather
than one in one of my machines because of the
dual boot nature of the machines and the possiblilty that they become corrupted. I don't want to have to buy 2 new drives ...just one at
the show this weekend for the actual upgrade and
I want to use the 500 meg drive on a shelf to
store the backup, but I'm not sure that it's big
enough, or is it?
Thanks,
Mike

If you use mfstool (see the "How-To" thread at the top of this forum) then your backup should be 150-200 MB.
