My Take On Showcases

I like the Showcases, but agree they could stand a lot of improvement. I particularly dislike having to check through a lot of listings just to see if anything new has been added. Instead, the Showcases should be like a monthly magazine. All new look and all new listings at least each month. That way I could look forward to the "New Issue" like any other magazine. It works for Satellite providers that mail a new mag each month.

I"d like it if the tivo could somehow compare the data it has to the data it downloads daily/weekly/whatever and notify you of any new programs that were added. I too stopped using showcases because it's too time consuming going through all the menus just to find a couple shows I might like. Also it's extremely annoying when I finally find a show and it conflicts with another show and I can't view upcoming episodes.

Well, we can only hope more users agree and maybe someone is listening.

It's also annoying that the showcases feature seems to annoy the fact that I don't have many of the channels in the showcase. The few times that I've tried to use this feature to find a good movie when I find one it's on a channel I don't have.

I found a movie that I wanted to see and it said it wasn't on a channel I was subscribed to. It was on TCM which I do get. I then went to look at the info. on the movie and it said something to the effect that there were no showings scheduled. Why would it appear in one part of the showcase and then show that there were no showings scheduled? Can't quite figure that one out.

I've seen this before, too. I just guessed that the Showcases or Tivolution Magazine are not updated daily, and that the movie in question was broadcast yesterday, and I simply missed my chance. I never bothered confirming that guess, though.

I have run in to these Showcase-related problems also
- Showcases listed for satellite premium channels that I don't receive
- Shows listed for Premium Channels that I do get, but then find they are not available
Could this be a Lineup problem?
(I had a problem with Season Passes that had worked fine for my first several months of TIVO. They suddenly quit working -- reporting that no upcoming episode were available to record. I noticed that all of these Passes were for cable channels and reported it to the LINEUP email address. The very Next Day I received and email with a fix*. Maybe this is that sort of problem?)
I haven't reported it because I have to consider myself satisfied with about everything else.
* the fix involved a New Menu Item marked (Temporary) in my setup area. I wonder if I was the only one who saw this menu item -- that is did they download this fix just to my set.
