Is there such a tivo? I poked around and see that the replay tv has this feature but didnt see it on any of the tivo devices. Im not sure if there are any others out there with dual tuners and dd 5.1 am I wrong?

The Directivos, which are $99, or free at certain sites for new subscribers, can record 2 shows at once in original satellite broadcast quality with DD encoding intact.

The DTiVos do this. With the benefit of being able to watch a previously recorded program, while recording two other live programs.

No replay unit can record 2 programs at once!

Nor can any Replay unit record DD 5.1 from broadcast sources such as satellite, since all it's signal inputs are analog. The 4000s only digital input is ethernet so it's only source of DD 5.1 would be whatever you may be able to find on the internet.

You're kidding, right? Who would make a unit in this day and time that can't record DD5.1 from TV be it Sat or Cable? Wow... this is a tremendous oversight. I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone.

I'd be interested in hearing about anything that can record DD5.1 from cable. Or, for that matter, any cable companies broadcasting in DD5.1. In San Francisco, AT&T Broadband's digital channels are all 2.0, I think.
