Modem - newbie in trouble pt.1

It appears my modem has quit functioning properly. I have done everything to eliminate the wiring - including running a line directly to the phone connection outside.
When I listen in, there appears to be a fair amount of static on the line when the modem picks up and the dial tones are not real tones, they sound computer generated and I get the phone company recording "your call can not be completed as dialed". It never connects now.

I have searched this forum for answers and have tried everything I found (i.e. ,#034, hard reset) and I don't have DSL. It worked ok for about a month.
Any ideas appreciated.

Did you check out the flow chart in this Thread? There are also some repair places mentioned in this Thread.

If you've eliminated the wiring and it's still under warranty, I guess I would call customer service up for repair. :(

If it's not under warranty, there are some places that have been written about on the forum that will repair the modem. ElectricLegs on the avsforum comes to mind.
