Upgrade Woes, What to do???

So I put a new Maxtor 80 Gig drive A in my Phillips 112 a couple of weeks ago, one that I purchased off of Ebay. It worked fine and was doing okay. This weekend I picked up a Seagate 80 Gig drive and blessed it as a B drive. After adding it to the system it did the boot loop thing a few times and then got the message (more or less):
"A xxxx error has occurred. Leave the unit plugged in and a phone connection hooked up. If the unit has not reset within 24 hours then call Customer Support"
Well I let it sit there and run. Eventually it came back up and seemed to be working fine. It erased a bunch of recorded programs and now only reports about 107 hr capacity instead of the expected 160 or so.
Is there any way to fix this without starting all over again?
Any ideas???

When you do an expanded A drive, you have to add the B drive before you boot the machine. When TiVoMad says "bless the B drive later", it means "not now, but before you boot the expanded A", as opposed to "use the TiVo with only the expanded a for a few days, then add the blessed B".
Unfortunately, you'll have to lose the recordings to fix it.

So now I just need to figure out how to fix it.

Okay, so I can go back to using my 20A/30B configurations for a while, till I fix it. That'll work.
So now I'm gonna have a couple of 80 Gig drives that need reformatting and setting up as A&B drives. What is the best way to do that, considering that I didn't back up the original A drive???
Thanks
Retro.

Start over with your original drives. Read and follow the Hinsdale instructions to make a backup, then install it on the larger drives (no formatting necessary). Using MFStools, you expand and bless at the same time, so no muss, no fuss.

I believe you, but where is the documentation that spells out this fine point? That is not the understanding I had of what I read.
I expanded my A drive to a 100GB drive, ended up with about 31 hr (best). I used it for a while. Then I added a blessed 100GB drive, and it only added ~8hr (best). I have a second unit that I expanded the same way, but didn't add the second blessed drive to after the first SNAFU. Is there anything I can do to properly add a blessed drive to my running second unit without restoring from the backup?
Was there a way that this could have been done properly, ie, anticipating adding a second large drive (A+B > 120GB) to an expanded unit without having both drives in hand?
