Series2 question

I am looking into buying a TiVo and was leaning towards the Series2 box. Before I buy, I need to know if the current Series2 box supports DirecTV. In other words, do I have to have a separate DirecTV receiver besides the Series2 box in order to record DirecTV content?

I tried searching for an answer on these forums and couldn't find one. Sorry if this question has been asked before.

The current Series 2 TiVos require a seperate DirecTV receiver. But TiVo has announced a Series 2 combo TiVo/Receiver. I believe 3rd quarter was mentioned?

Thank you for the reply. It looks like I'll go with a cheap series1 in that case.

Alright, one last question that will help me really decide on what to buy.

Will the Series2 work with my Panasonic TU-HDS20 receiver / STB, or does it have the same IR problems that the Series1 have?

As you can tell I really want that Series2 box... :)
