T-60 ideas?

My buddy just called and said if I want a T-60 to pick it up 400.00 with 200 back from Sony.

Now the problem I have a old Phillips standalone. My standalone has been upgraded to over 180 of rec time working great. Can I just remove the 2 drives from my SA and put them in the T-60?

Call me crazy I know but there isnt a shot that this would work?
What would be my other choices ? I dont want to loose the shows that we have saved ?

Any ideas or comments would be great!
