Copying between two configurations of same total capacity?

Is it theoretically possible to copy, for example, a pair of TiVoMadded drives of capacities 80 GB each (total 160 GB) to two new drives of capacities 120 GB and 40 GB (total again 160 GB, or larger), while preserving recordings? Assume an ability to have all four drives connected simultaneously to a computer and booting off of a floppy or a pair or more of swapped floppies.

If it is theoretically possible, how close are we to being able to make it actually possible? I realize demand is not great for such an ability, but I expect it requires knowledge I don't have nor which could be imparted to me, only learned through a personal investigation into MFS.

Mfs Tools should do this already.. havent tested it personally but I believe it will work.
