OK, I'll give the short version:

I did my second DTivoMad upgrade today on my (now) 188 hour box below. When I got to the stage where I'm supposed to boot the new drives in the TiVo and let DTivoMad finish it's thing, instead of rebooting the normal two times, it went into a tight reboot loop ("welcome..", 2 seconds, reboot, "welcome..", 2 seconds, reboot).

I redid the whole smash two more times, and on the second time, I just let it sit there in the reboot loop while I finished reading an e-mail, and all of a sudden, it went to the "Almost there" screen, and finished booting! A quick glance at SI revealed the expected 188 hours, and it's worked great since.

I'd guess it rebooted over a dozen times, maybe even twenty or more, but it finally finished. Strange, huh?

So, the lesson here is: Let it reboot for a while, maybe it'll finally work! :)
