HELP,

I have a Sony TiVo that I added a second 100 gig drive to, every thing went smooth.

The problem is my computer wont recognize my DVD drive now.

I purchased hardware and Kazymyr's TiVo Boot CD (version 2.61) from 9thtee.

Upgrade went fine.

Now my computer doesn't seem to recognize my DVD drive. I can still boot to Linux using the TiVo boot disk. But, Windows ME locks it I boot with my DVD hooked up and my BIOS doesn't seem to recognize it as a drive.

Help how do I tell my Compaq Presario 5714, that my DVD drive isn't a Linux only drive.

Thanks,

Tom

This may be waaaaaaay too simple but have you tried this?
Go to control panel/system/device manager and remove the DVD drive. Restart windows and let it see it like new hardware.

yes, I have done that, it's like my computers bios does even recognize the drive is there except for when the Kazymyr's TiVo Boot CD is in the drive, then it boots to Linux

Ok, one last amateur attempt and then I'll leave:

Restore BIOS to default settings?

Uh, sounds like a loose cable or jumper to me. Nothing else would have changed while upgrading, but knocking a cable loose happens all the time.

Well, let me add I am not a computer neophyte. Bought my first PC in 1983 and have an original Compaq MS-DOS 1.1 disk in my files.

I've done all the obvious things. Even changed the jumpers from Cable Select to Master and Slave, still no good.

It seems to me like my computer is interpreting my DVD drive as being a Linux Partitioned Boot Drive, with no DOS partitions on it.

I believe I need help from someone who knows LINUX really well.

Thanks,

Tom
