May I assume that I still need to insert both hard drives from my Phillips 2 drive DTIVO in my pc to derive a correct image for an upgrade to 2 80 GB drives. It is odd that the 30GB A drive was jumpered CS while there was no jumper on the B drive. May I assume the 15GB drive was a slave?

My luck the second DTIVO I purchased was a 2 drive unit. The first upgrade was a slice of heaven to 90 hours. Hinsdales instructions are impeccable.

From the How-To Step 5) Removing Drives from TiVo

You may also be able to determine which is the A drive by examining the jumper settings; A drive is jumpered as Master/or Cable Select with the B drive as Slave/or having no jumpers.

From the How-To Step 7 Option #2) Backup up a two-drive TiVo:

Connect your original TiVo A drive to the Secondary Master IDE connector on your PC making sure that the red/black edge stripe on the IDE cable is closest to the power connector and that the power connector is inserted fully. Connect your original TiVo B drive to the Primary Slave IDE connector on your PC.

Drive placement is for ease of example only, can be altered to accomodate your PC setup as is outlined in Step 6

That is what I thought, but I appreciate you confirming that for me. Sorry that I missed the part in chapter5. I cheated and skipped to chapter 7.
