Did your Sony have version 2.5 software when you bought it? I'm not an expert but it may be the "13 partition" problem....
Do a search for "svr2000 partition"
From Hinsdale's guide.......Note for Sony Standalones: The most recent production model Sony Standalone units released with v2.5.1 OS pre-installed and some older refurbished Sony Standalone units that are running or have run v2.0.2 TiVo OS are not currently able to use TiVoMad to expand A drives (contain non-standard 13 partition structure - can review TiVo drive partition table for verification by using the shift+pageup on boot disk startup). You are, however, able to use BlessTiVo (see Step 10 - Upgrade Configuration #1) to add a new large B drive. In order to use TiVoMad A drive expansion you will need to obtain and restore a standard 11 partition Sony Standalone single A drive image (see AVS TiVo Upgrade Center if required). Copy the acquired 11 partition Mfs Tools backup image to the root directory (C:\) of your primary Windows C: drive (or dos fat32 partition) . Then simply restore this image to your new large upgrade A drive using the instructions provided in Step 8 - replacing tivo.bak with the appropriate filename. After testing your restored image, you can then complete your upgrade using the instructions at Step 10 - Upgrade Configuration #

I just tried to upgrade the TiVo my wife gave me for Christmas (Sony SVR-2000) and of course I see the note on the 13 partition thing too late in Hinsdale's document. Now even my original disc won't boot, and my wife is in tears, and I am close myself.
Could some kind soul PM me the info on where to download the 11 partition image?

indeed, sorry to post yet "another" request for this 11 partition, but I need it as well..... and I'm not sure who to PM about it.
It would be nice to just have it available for download somewhere..... or is that not legal?
anyways.... i would really appreciate it if I could get this as well.....

It's not legal. But someone will probably send you a pointer anyway.

I also discovered the Sony Standalone note _almost_ too late. I also need the 11 partition Sony image, if someone would be so kind. My email is ttop13@attbi.com.

You might want to make sure your drive is being recognized as a 120 gig and not a 33 gig. Check out this post for more information.
