TiVo series 2 upgrade questions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The new series 2 does not have a fan in the rear. Has anyone had any heat problems when adding a B drive?
What other items will I need other than the drive (bracket, power cable…)?
Any additional tips are welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I recently did an upgrade on my AT&TiVo Series 2. I did not need a bracket. Did need a Y power cable, 80 conductor 66 HD cable. See the Hinsdale document for details.

You'll definitely need a power cable splitter, a longer IDE cable with 3 connectors, screws for your hard drive (not all hard drives ship with these) and a Torx T-10 screwdriver.

We have our complete upgrade instructions posted here.

Thanks guys for the valuable info. I didn’t know the TiVo series 2 had a fan.
It sounds like heat isn’t a problem.
Thanks for all the help! I’ll be “elbow deep” next Saturday.
:D

I read on one of the upgrade sites (can't find the site now) that they no longer sell upgrade kits for the Series 2 because it is not as forgiving as the original TiVo or something like that. You must send your unit to them for the upgrade.

Anyone have any idea what kind of problems people are having when they do the upgrade themselves?
