TurboNet - Any need for TiVo service?

I was reading someone's post and they said something that caught my attention, but i'm not sure if it's accurate...

If you install a TurboNet board and do the daily updates through your broadband connection, do you still need to pay for Tivo service or is the service charge for dial-up only?

I have LT service on my HDR212, so it's a question purely out of curiosity, i'm not trying to steal anything from anyone, especially from a company that I own stock in!

Yes, you still need to pay for the service. The service is the information and software updates, not the dialup connection. By using the broadband link, you're perhaps saving TiVo a bit of money, which should make you, as a stockholder, happy. It's not enough money for it to be worth a discount, in my opinion.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I didn't think tivo would let you download guide & program data from them without a valid account (that is, without reverting to sleezy illegal versions of the software).
