Tivo restarts by itself

I upgraded my 20 hour Philips standalone by copying 20 gig to 80 gig 5400 drive (used tivomad). Since then the Tivo occasionally restarts itself, seems to happen when something is recording and the menu is being accessed, but I have not been able to intentionally cause the problem.
I'm thinking of putting the original 20 gig back in and putting the 80 gig in as a drive B.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated

I would just perform the upgrade exactly the same as before. It may simply be a corrupted transfer and re-performing the upgrade may resolve the problem.

What Dan said is certainly possible. Also possible that your 80gb has some bad sectors (or other more severe problems). You might want to run the 90-second and Advanced Certification tests in Powermax (Maxtor's diagnostic utility). While those tests aren't 100% certain to uncover problem drives, when they do show a bad drive, you know you've got a problem.
