Drive Security

Hello,
I was in the process of upgrading my 130 hour upgraded TiVo when things went quickly south.
Here is what I did:
1) Bless new Maxtor 80 G disk.
2) remove existing 60 G IBM disk.
3) Back up IBM disk. This back up is a 20 hour or some such.
4) put 60 G IBM back in as A. Note that I did not restore back to A drive nor did I tivomadd the drive.
5) put the 80 G Maxtor in as the B drive.
6) Powered up. Nothing really happened. No start up screens.
Pulled the drives back out and tried to look at the 60 G IBM. When the TiVo boot disk came up into Linux it bitched pretty good about /dev/hdc (where the 60 G was attached) having read errors. It could sense the drive and its size but access was disallowed and failed.
I downloaded IBM's Disk Functional Test and tried to test it. It wouldn't let me test the bugger saying the drive was password protected. I ran Drive Info on it and it said the drive had security turned on and the drive was locked.
This somehow happened during the time I pulled the TiVo apart and powered things back up. I didn't intentionally set a password. So I figured out this is what is bollixing things up. Does anyone know of a way to get around this?
Also what if anything does drive security have to do with Auto Lock?
thanks,
-c
