I have installed my TivoNet hardware from 9thTee in my Tivo unit. The software i'm having trouble with loading the TivoNet script. This is what I have done . The first thing was to make the boot CD with the tivo tools and tivonet dir on it. Then hooked the drive A from my updated tivo player to my computer with it being the only drive on it ,then i re-booted the computer with the CD in the CD drive. The next step was log in as root and went to the tivonet dir. I then ran the script file but the only thing i get was this error below

found necessary file on //tivonet
mounting //dev/hdb4 on /mnt and //dev/hdb7 on //mnt7
is not valid block
block device unable to mount partitions -- aborting

I need help on what to do next if you know what to do please give me a hand so i can get me tivo back in good health.

You did say that you hooked up your Tivo A drive as the ONLY drive? That would make it hda, not hdb.

Looks to me like the script is looking for the drive to be a slave/2nd drive (hdb), not the master (hda). That's why it's having trouble mounting the partitions.. they aren't there ;-)

Also, you don't want to mount a TiVo drive as a primary master (hda) on your PC when using Dylan's Boot Disk or kaxymyr's CD - byteswapping is not enabled on the primary master.

You should leave some ide device plugged in as the master (and jumpered appropriately), and plug in your Tivo A-Drive as the slave (jumpered appropriately).

Personally, when I have hooked up my drive in the past, I took an old IDE drive i had sitting around and made it the master and made the Tivo A-drive the slave... that way, if i messed up the master drive, it had nothing i cared about.

Even though you aren't upgrading your Tivo, you can learn A LOT by reading Hinsdale's HOW-To: http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/

Also, check out: http://tivonet.dfwwebmasters.com/tivonetHowTo.html and http://www.pineaus.com/HOWTO/Tivo-DSL-HOWTO.html as well as the TiVo FAQ: http://www.tivofaq.com/hack/faq.html

All of these have been helpful to me, and I wouldn't have cracked open my TiVo without reading and understanding this stuff...
