Svideo setup and copying to VHS

I have my Tivo (Not DTV) set to use the Svideo out. I need to copy a West Wing episode to video tape. If I attach regular RCA plugs to the ouput jacks (L, R, V) to my VCR inputs, will the tape record video? Obviously my VCR in this case isn't svideo ready.

I'm asking before I try, because I don't want to waste time running to the store to get new cables if I'm told it won't work - if I had an extra set of cables I'd waste my time first :).

Will I need to specify copy to tape, or just play on Tivo and hit record on my VCR.

I guess the bigger question is: When Tivo is dumping video to Svideo, does it also dump to the regular video out simultaneously?

Thanks all.

As far as I know it uses all outputs simultaneously.

The "Save to VCR" function starts with a black screen with recording info, then plays back the video w/o any overlays.

Yes, all outputs are active with the same signal on a TiVo (except in standby mode, where the RF is passed through).
