Bit on the butt by Philips

My 6 month old Philips TiVo unit is malfunctioning. It can't get past the "Almost there" screen. Well, I called TiVo, who said that they would replace the unit. What they didn't tell me is that Philips wants $110 bucks to do it. Okay, so they build a piece of crap unit that died after only 6 months then they extort money from me to fix their defective product? No wonder they are so quick to give $100 off rebates. They know that in the end, they'll get the money back once the unit goes bad.
Can you tell that I'm pissed? If I have one more problem with this thing, I'm cancelling the service. The convenience of it isn't worth the headache or the extra money that's flying out of my pocket.

No one extorted money from you.
The TiVo came with a 30 day warranty and will cover repairs on a per incident basis for $99 per incident.
Since no one extorted money from you, i'm closing this.
