Ordering of channels

Firstly, apologies if this has been asked before. I have looked through the previous topics but can't find anything.

I only have standard tv, ie channels 1,2,3,4 and 5 and my TiVo is just set up for these channels.
When I am watching the tv through TiVo, if I change up/down channels it does not go up by channel number but by channel frequency(37, 50 etc..).
This means that if I start at BBC1 and press up channel, instead of getting BBC2 I get Chanel4 for example. This is not really a major problem but is a bit annoying. I have looked through the TiVo's menus and can see no way of changing the ordering.
Am I just being really thick and missing something obvious?
Please let me know if it is possible to re-order the channels.

It's a forum tradition to make the point that, frustrating as this is to start with, after a while it fades away. Once TiVo's season passes are set up, one tends to stop channel-surfing and watching live TV.

Turned out to be true for me. It used to bug me, now I go straight to Now Playing...
