Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me get a dead, out-of-warrantee DSR6000 running again. It ran new out of the box for a few days, then started getting balky, getting stuck on "Powering Up". Now when I turn it on, I get no video at all for about 60 seconds and the drive doesn't spin up. Neither front-panel LED lights up. After the first minute, the drive spins up and I get black video for a few seconds, which then goes back to no video. The drive remains spun up, and every minute or two I get a few seconds of black video, as if the DTiVo is trying to reset itself.
I've tried swapping the hard drive with a known good drive (another lct40 with a known good image restored onto it by mfstool), swapping in a known good IDE cable, and I even attempted to reset non-volatile ram by removing the battery for a minute. Nothing has changed the behavior.
Thanks a lot,
-T

Hi again folks,
For folks like me with dead hardware and no answers, try checking out the TiVo forums at http://************.com/forum/. I found the answer to my question there. My TiVo wasn't booting at all, and the giveaway was that the drive didn't spin up for a minute. The problem is one of those "known problems" where the ribbon cable that connects the power supply to the mother board sometimes needs to be removed and reseated. Voila! :)
