I Need a Sony SVR-2000 UPC ASAP

Just before Christmas, I bought an open-box Sony SVR-2000 from the Good Guys as a present for my mom. It had a $100 rebate on it, but the store didn't have the box, so no UPC. They gave me a special form they use for rebates when there's no UPC, but Sony doesn't honor it, apparently. I just got a postcard from them saying they were denying the rebate because of lack of UPC. I called them, and they won't budge. They suggested I try to get the Good Guys to give me $100 back. I doubt that's gonna happen, but I'll speak to a manager there anyway.
If I want to resubmit, I only have until 4/25/2002 to do it. It's not clear if that's a "postmarked by" date or a "received by" date, so I'm assuming it must be received by 4/25. So, if there's anyone out there who still has the UPC for an SVR-2000 that they wouldn't mind parting with, I'd really appreciate it. PM or e-mail me for my home address.
Thanks.

I had the same problem of no UPC with my "no box" SVR-2000 from Circuit City. The same UPC that is on the box is on the inside back cover of the manual. You can copy that and send it to them and they will honor it or at least that is what they told me when I called. I just wrote "No Box" on the receipt when I mailed the rebate and that was good enough for them. I got the rebate check, no questions asked.

Thanks, but it didn't come with a manual either. All I got was the Tivo, and a Philips remote. No manual, no cables, no box. When I figured out that the Philips remote wouldn't work at all with the Sony, I called them up that same evening and they "found" a new Sony remote for me.
As for the rebate, it took a while, but I have some good news. I called Sony's rebate center again, and this time a lady told me to just get a letter on company letterhead from TGG and fax it to them. So I drove down to TGG, found a manager, who then told me I just needed the "correct" generic UPC form. I wasn't too sure about it, but I figured I'd give it a shot. One of his minions went to look for it, and eventually (about 40 minutes later!) came back out and said he couldn't find it, and that he'd just give me the money. So I got a credit for $100 on my TGG card. Actually, they credited back the sales tax, too, so it was $107.25 total. I guess I made $7.25/hr. while waiting around, since it was a full hour by the time I got out of there.
So I don't need the UPC anymore, although if I was an unscrupulous little thief I could still resubmit the form and get another $100 back. But not only would that be wrong ethically, it might be considered fraud, and it's just not worth it all the way around. I would delete this post, but someone may have read it and want to know the outcome. So I'll leave it up for a couple days, and maybe delete it after that.
Thanks to everyone who took time to read this, and thanks to The Good Guys for coming through.

I would love to here how this comes out. I also bought a Sony Tivo out of Box from CC. The receipt is marked "No Box" I circled it in to make it clear and on the form wrote "no Box, display" and sent it in. That was about a month ago and I haven't heard anything yet. I have copied all of the docs though so if I have a problem I will confront CC about it.

I just got "the card" from Sony as well. They also wanted the UPC, even though I had sent them a copy of the receipt that said "open box" and "no UPC available". When I called Sony, they asked me to fax a copy of the receipt to them and they would get it straightned out. I don't know why they didn't get it the first time, but I'm glad they did.
