I'm going to replace the main Hard Drive on my Sony SVR-2000 and was wondering what drive do I need?

7200 RPM?
2 MB buffer?
Ultra ATA/100 controller ?

Any help would be great! I was going to buy the replacement HD from Sony but they are asking for $100!!!! I'd rather try and do it myself.

5400RPM, quiet. You don't need ATA100. A big buffer is nice, but that's common. 7200RPM will just be noiser and hotter.

Any of the Maxtor D540X series will work well.

I ask this question because I can get a 60gig 7200rpm Maxtor for $99!

If you shop around you can get a 5400rpm 80GB Maxtor drive for under $100.

Well, I really want to buy one today and every store I have checked out (Fry's, Best Buy, etc.) don't have any good deals, I'm going to end up getting it. I shouldn't have any problems with it by being 7200 rpms right?
