Just starting out in TiVo and am wondering if the Series II is worth it. I'm looking at either getting it or a Sony SVR-2000 with the drives upgraded.

Is the series II upgradible?

What can't you do with the series II compared to series I units?

On a series 2, you can add a second disk. None of the other upgrades or hacks are available for it at present, but the Series 2 offers potential for doing things in the future that the Series 1 can't. Network connectivity for Series 2 is supposed to be available when the version 3 software rolls out (with a commercial USB-Ethernet adapter). I suppose it depends on what you want. If I were buying a standalone today, I'd get a Series 2.
