Vpn
I have a xp pro and a win 2000 machine at home both are on the office domain as I use VPN to work at home. I have NTL BB and a router, both machines can quite happily surf but only one can connect to the office at a time (I think that this is because they are useing the same IP no. and the server 2000 does not like it)

My problem is that as they are on a domain and they can not talk to the server at the same time they will not talk to each other.

Any ideas thanks in advance

You can take them off the domain, and put them into a workgroup of the same name. They'll still authenticate against your servers, as long as you use local username/passwords the same as the domain is using. Set up local users on both machines the same.

This can be achieved very easily using Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing. Connect your 'server' up to the NTL connection. Then create a standard dial up for it (providing your computers see it as a modem? and not a NIC?). Go to properties on that connection. One of the tabs is sharing. You can share it out. MS ICS handles Network Address Translation, all DHCP and sharing. The connection to the internet is routed through the server and all connected clients get private 192.168.0.x IP addresses.

That way you will still be able to see the other computer on your local network whilst being connected through VPN as well. I use this exact setup at home myself for the time being (until I can afford an ADSL router anyhow!). :)

ICS will not work in this case as the machines do not see each other, thats the problem.

I already have a router so do not need ISC anyway.

FYI NTL is seen as a NIC not a modem.

Will try irrelevant's idea about work group and let you know if i can still access the office server through VPN

Tried the workgroup idea can log onto the server but not to exchange which is the main point as i need to see the shared calendar any ideas?
