Questions for SVR-2000
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My Sony SVR-2000 unit has 2.5.1 and 13 partitions. I have read the FAQ (thanks, Hinsdale) and am ready to upgrade by adding a second (B) drive. My questions are:
1) Does the backup/restore using mfstool do any good if I have the extra two partitions that won't be backed up? What purpose will the backup serve for me?
2) Can I safely use the existing Ext3 partition on my Linux box?
TIA :D

1) It works just fine. I upgraded mine w/o a hitch. When you're doing the MFSTools backup/restore bits, do it while booted up in noswap - goes much faster.
2) Yep. Ext3 is just Ext2 with some extra kernel features. You can freely switch between them.
