TurboNet and Sony SVR2000 'B' Drive only upgrade
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

 First time poster here. I see a lot of posts regarding the Sony SVR2000 11/13 partition situation and I'd like to try to get a clearer view of what I need to do (I have a SVR2000 which I purchased in December with 2.5-01-1-011, so I know I have the 13 partition model).
I want to install Turbonet and want to add a 'B' drive (120GB Maxtor) and don't want to change the 'A' drive.
Am I correct in assuming that since I don't want to upgrade the 'A' drive, I don't have to worry about the partition problem?
I also want to install Turbonet (it should be here tomorrow).. Does it matter what I do first? Should I ...
A - Install Turbonet. Then when I know that's working, add the second drive.
B - Add the second drive. Then when I know that's working, add the Turbonet.
C - Do them both at the same time.
I'm fairly comfortable working with hardware, but I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Linux. I have a Linux savy friend stopping by this week to help out, so I'm not worried about that part. He's already installed TivoNet and a second hard drive on his own Phillips box.
My main concern is the 11/13 partition problem on the SVR2000.
TIA for any help or info provided.

You may have file protection, too, but it's fairly easy to circumvent. You can test this by adding something nonsensical to your rc.sysinit file
code:
# this is a test
the put the drive in your tivo, boot it up until it's up and running again. then shut it down, pull the drive and check rc.sysinit - if the changes are gone, you'll need to run a specific dd command. You cna find it by searching the Underground forum for
code:
dd if=/dev/zero
and limiting to posts by me.
From experience, the 13 partitions only affects expanding your A-drive. All other steps work fine.
