Guides Obsolete, Season Passes GONE! -- All AZ Customers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well, woke up today to find a malfunctioning/barely functioning TiVo. Apparently, our friends at Tribune Media Services sent information telling TiVo that our guides and channel listings were now obsolete... POOF! There go our channels! POOF! There go ALL our Season Passes!!! How exciting...
Apparently, according to TiVo folks @ the place we called, this affected all TiVo users in Arizona...
Just grand!
Now we have to re-insert and re-order all of our SPs...

I'm excited... (note not-so-subtle sarcasm)

This SP "bug" (undocumented feature, April Fool's joke, or cruel, cruel mistress) is getting tiresome. We've seen it over and over as issues with lineups (which are somewhat beyond Tivo's control) crop up.

Personally, I'm surprised that Tivo hasn't bothered to fix this issue already. I've seen more than three solutions to this problem posted before.

I'd love to at least see Tivo say, "Yes, this sucks, we know it sucks, and we are exploring ways to make sure that you don't lose all your SPs just because Tribune or your MSO feeds us some bad data. Please stay tuned and in the meantime, sorry, sorry, sorry."

If Outlook deleted all my mail rules every six months on whim, I'd be pretty pissed off. And that's email. We're talking TV here, the holy grail, the glowing idol, the casius clay of cathode ray.

Get on the ball, Tivo. Give us some sort of sign. A rain dance. something!

I can't seem to find the post with a search, but a TiVo engineer apologized quite nicely when he found out that a fix had not made it into release 2.5. It lends hope that 3.0 may have a fix!

Is there anybody in AZ with 3.0 that can comment?

I haven't noticed any difference on my DirecTivo, with 2.5. All my SP's are fine, and the Tivo is functioning normally, as it has from the day I bought it over a year ago. That's not to say I dont sympathize with you, Cyberhobbs. Wonder what happened, and why it hasn't affected me here in Carefree?

Because you have a DirecTiVo. You get your guide data from DirecTV via the satellite, and not from Tribune via TiVo. Since it was the cable lineups that got screwed up, you weren't affected.

Yet another reason to choose DirecTV. :)

I believe this is fixed in 3.0, but don't hold me to that.

Anyway, I think that instead of deleting SP's, it hangs on to them. You might still have to recreate them, since the channel name might have changed or something, but it will be there for you to peruse.

TiVo needs to add suspendable season passes. And when you reactivate the season pass, it puts up a "View Upcoming Episodes"-like screen so you can select which channel to associate the SP with.

dang...living in AZ, this happaned to me yesterday too. I didn't realize that I had to re-enter all my SP's. I sure hope that isn't true. I'll have to check if they are still there when I get home.

As far as I can see, there was no line-up changes or channel changes.

Your "suspendable season pass" sounds a lot like a "Wishlist". have you tried setting up a Wishlist? you can tell it to auto record, then stop the auto recording anytime. You can aslo set it to record the same program across all of the channels it appears on.

Ah, now I understand it all! Thanks!

As of 4/30 my Tivo has schedule to May 11, I checked. There's no impact to schedule or season passes. Perhaps your outage is limited to your community in Arizona, or to a specific cable company? It's not fair to say all of Arizona is affected. Dean (from Arizona's second largest city and home of the best Arizona college basketball team).

This happened to me over the weekend, here in Pennsylvania. Man, does this ever suck! The most ridiculous part of the situation is that there was no actual change in my line-up; the cable company simply changed the name of the line-up I subscribe to. It is also unfortunate that you cannot create a season pass to a show that isn't currently on the schedule (in order to catch it when it returns). I know the wishlist is a way to get around this, but certain shows (The Job, for example) have names that are general enoough that they conjure up all sorts of selections in a wishlist. I repeat: Man, does this ever suck!
