Does Tivo find/replace corrupt files?

Ok, here is my situation. I have a Phillips Series I unit that I upgraded from the stock 20 gig HD to a 120 gig Western Digital. I kept the original HD for restore purposes. Now my 120 is about to bite the dust. It was pausing and skipping when the internal temp got above about 35 degrees. I have run Western Digital diagnostics and got an error code so Western Digital will replace…the new drive is on its way.
Now for my question. Since the current 120 still functions, I would like to copy the partitions to the new drive using the appropriate tools, but I am concerned that I may be copying bad program files. Does tivo attempt to find and replace bad (corrupt) program files during its daily call/restart routine? Or is there a way to copy these from the original HD after copying the partitions from the current bad drive? The key here is I do not want to loose my current saved recordings that are still in tact on the bad 120.
Thanks in advance;
Clarke
