Sony SVR-2000 video problems!

I posted this in another forum, but was given a suggestion to post it in here and see if anyone has any ideas.

I have a Sony SVR-2000 (30 hour) that has been upgraded with a 80GB 5400 Maxtor. So now it is running two drives.

Usually about once a week my tivo will screw up a recording. By screwed up I mean jittery. It will be normal for about 1-2 seconds, then jittery(although the sound is fine), then repeat the entire length of the show. Making the show basicly useless and unwatchable.

I have thought that maybe I have a bad section of HD, but that wouldnt make sense as it does it the entire length of the show, and not the show recorded right before and right after. Just in case I have permanently saved the show that is messed up to make sure that no other shows will be recorded over the same area of HD. Of course this won't work if it defrags itself periodically. But like I said, I dont think this is the problem.

I am guessing that maybe it is a temperature related problem, although it never gets very hot. The hotest I have seen it is 38c. Or a MPEG encoder hardware problem.

Anyone have any ideas? I think it has only done this since I have upgraded it, but I can't be sure. This can potentially become a HUGE problem if it screws up one of favorite shows like 24. Thank you.
