I just did my TivoNet install, and it seems to work. I can ping it from my PC.
I can telnet to it from my PC.
I can traceroute from my Tivo to places on the web.
But when I tell it to "Make Daily Call Now" I get "Failed. Service unavailable"
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

It could just be chance. The TiVo servers tend to get overloaded at times (especially in the evening) when they're sending out new releases. In particular, I noticed my TivoNet got "Failed. Service unavailable" last evening, but worked this morning.

If you can do arbitrary traceroutes to the web, you should be in good shape. I don't have any other suggestions other than check the TiVo logs (using backdoors if you don't have a bash prompt.). /var/log/tclient I believe.

I found the solution!!

It has to do with my ISP's (mostly) invisible http proxy
