Is that all there is?!?

I'm planning a HDR212 upgrade. I just want to add a 160Gig drive (which I've already bought) as a B-drive. Assuming I'm willing to take the risk and forgo the backup, all I need to do is bless the new B-drive and pop it in right?

Thanks folks. Great forum here!

If you are going to go through the steps of disconnecting all of your A/V equipment to crack open your TiVo to put in the B drive you might as well take a few more minutes (possibly half an hour) and make a backup of your A drive.

I suggest using mfstools to make the backup (as opposed to dd) as you will have a pretty compact (~150Mb) backup that you could then burn off to CD-ROM or just stash away on your PC.

Things are bound to break or go wrong. I am pretty sure that if two weeks down the road after installing your B drive if your unit goes TU you will be kicking yourself for not having that backup. Restore images are available, but why put yourself through of the ordeal of asking for one in public. (Oh, the shame.)

My thoughts anyway...
