WD 120GB Drive for $120
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Circuit City appears to have a new deal on the WD-1200BRTL 120GB 7200RPM drive. They are offering two mail-in rebates, one at $150 and one at $30 off a base price of $299.

The price online seems to be $299.99 - $120 -$30 = +/- $150 + any shipping.

Some people were saying that in Houston, Fry's had this drive advertised for $159, and they were getting CC and Best Buy to pricematch, then doing the rebate, letting the drive come in for just over the cost of tax.
The rebate does appear to be $150 total (120+30), not $180. It reads the same in my CC sunday circular.

I got one of these drives yesterday. I thought I was paying $299 - $150 Rebate == $149+tax.
But I am happily surprised to say that with this thread, I looked at my receipts closer and found a second rebate for another $30 off!
A fast large drive for $1/GB is fine by me. Even though I no longer have a functioning TiVo to put it in.
Anyone selling off a usable TiVo power supply? Or any inspited EEs out there want to try to repair one?

You are right! And I'm a math major!

I take it that this is a good drive to put into tivo?
(good price = good time to upgrade my tivo ...and lack of working = good time to get turbonet).

Hello!
Remember, if you have Amex Gold or Plat. And some other Amex cards not sure which, they offer BVG. Best value Guarantee. So if you buy the drive at 299.99. and find another cheaper price Amex will send you a check for the difference. (even internet prices so do a search).
I bought an 80gig WD at Best Buys w/ a $75 rebate (came today) and Amex sent me a $96 check in 2 weeks. Cost about $30 in the end.
BVG just ended on the BLUE card. I believe someone said if you pay an annual fee you most likely have the AMEX BVG. But call to be sure.
They give you 90 days to find the lowest price. So, sometimes it is worth the risk to wait a month or 2 as drives drop in price.
Cheers
Jerry!

I was NOT a math major, and I did not read my rebates very carefully. I may have been distracted or high or something.
I found that my rebate forms were for $120 and $30. So, I posted wrong info. The drive does come out to $150 after all rebates.
You still pay tax on the full $299 purchase price though.
Sorry for any confusion.
