Help! TIVO not recognizing all the space on NEW DRIVE

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi Everybody,
I have been upgrading my TIVO (Sony SVR2000) for what seems like days, and it will not recognize the full 92hrs on the 80 Maxtor I installed.
1. I started by pulling my old drive out of the TIVO and hooking it up as Master on the Secondary IDE channel.
2. I then put the new drive as Slave on the Secondary channel.
3. I booted into Kazymyr's Boot Cd and logged in as root.
4. I used the make directory command: mkdir /mnt/dos
5. I then mounted the main hard drive in my computer using mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos
6. I ran the backup using:
"mfstool backup -6so /mnt/dos/backup1.bak /dev/hdc" (This appeared to work)
7. I ran the restore using:
"mfstool restore -zi /mnt/dos/backup1.bak /dev/hdd"
8. I ran the unmount command:
"umount -f -a -r"
9. I ran "halt" and rebooted.
10. I logged in again as root and ran the expand step:
"mad/setup.sh"
11. It was single drive with 2.5 software and less than 140GB so I answer the questions approprietly. (This ran and said Upgrade complete.)
12. I installed the new drive in my TIVO and everything appeared to work except that the System Info said that the unit had 37hrs in Basic Quality.

Also note that I tried again last night with an 11 Partition Sony SVR2000 Version 2.5 Image and had the same result.
Could someone please help me with any suggestions? Please!

Thanks,
Brian

This happened to me also. The expansion script isn't
running. I haven't seen anything
posted saying that there was a way around it.

I got around it by putting the drive in my phillips and letting
it run the expand and it expanded fine.. and I put it back
into the sony and it's been working ever since.

Bottom line.. as far as I know you'll need to find a friend
with a phillips and pop the drive in there in order to
get it to expand correctly.

the newer Sony's have file protection. Search for "initrd" in the Underground forum and you'll find the info you need.
