i tried insmod -f probe.o to prevent the incorrect kernel message i was geting earlier. now when i run it i get the message:

probe.o: init_module: Device or resource busy

i checked the /var/log/kernel and found this line:

May 15 23:30:05 (none) kernel: looks like a NE card at f4000300

the instructions say i should get the message looks like a NE card at 0x300

is my message good enough? does it have to be 0X300 or was it just the looks like a NE card part i needed to see?

I just noticed the line proceding the one above reads May 15 23:30:05
(none) kernel: reg(0xf400030d)=0x0 that dosent look good -_-

f4000300 is right for the TivoNet card.

I don't know what the other line is - can you ping your TiVo?
