Help with Drive Blessing

Hey guys,
I've been holding onto a new drive for a little while now. I could install it myself but have been unable to upgrade my TiVo because my Mac Performa 64000 does not have a second IDE, therefore I can't get it blessed. I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to bless it for me. If you live anywhere near Des Moines, Iowa or would let me ship it to them I would appreciate it. (Unless of course someone can confirm that running Mac TiVo Blesser from a boot CD would work properly). Thanks :)

I hate to say it, but do a search. I remember someone said they successfully upgraded a tivo using a mac. Maybe you can contact them and find out what they used.

heh.. ummm didja skip the part where i said my Mac didnt have a second IDE port? That part is kinda important :) I know it can be done.
No other responses yet, till looking for someone who can bless my drive :)

I'm hardly an expert (just upgraded for the first time this weekend) so I may be missing something obvious.
If all you need is to bless the drive (not make a backup) then why do you need a second IDE port? The "blessing" part of the process only needs the CD and the drive to be blessed.
That said, I'd be happy to bless it for you--send me a PM.

Why not just attached the new drive as your primary master and bless it that way? If you're booting with a floppy or CD, it should work fine.

Well I thought i read that the Mac Tivo blessing program needed to be run from an IDE deevice on the chain with the drive to be formated to work properly or whatever. If anyone can say otherwise please let me know, it will save me a hassle :)

The IDE cable may not have a second port but the bus supports a master and a slave. Go spend $5 and get a new IDE cable with master and slave ports. Make sure your master is set to "Master" not "cable select", and put the new drive on as "slave".
I blessed a TiVo drive once on my G4, but it has dual IDE busses and dual drivers per bus.

Actually I had the same "problem" on mine. My secondary cable only had one port so I thought I'd have to hook up the existing drive, backup, hook up new drive, restore, etc. I wasn't until I started the backup and opened my new drive that I realized it came with an IDE cable with 2 ports.
This may be a silly question, but have you opened your new drive yet to check.
