GSOD and not a bad HD

Yesterday AM I awakened to a GSOD on my Phillips 212. I waited the suggested 24 hrs and still nothing. I restarted the unit with pause 5,7 and then pause 5,8. After a lengthy download all I ended up with was the GSOD. I replaced the HD with a HD from a known working Tivo unit and still GSOD. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
Thanks,
Paul

I had a GSOD also. I waited about 36 hours. And tried the 5,7 - 5,8 combo, nothing worked.
I was able to do an MFS backup with no problem. I ran maxtor diagnostics and they came up clean. I restored the backup image to 2 new 120gb maxtor drives and got the GSOD again. I restored a backup from the original drives to the new 120's and the system came up okay. I never upgraded my second Tivo but I'm about ready to try to use the 2 older 100 gb drives upgrading the second machine. I was definitely unhappy since I had no recent list of passes and I had a couple of months worth of movies (I pick and choose which movie to watch, so some older ones get passed over for a newer recording.)

My replacement drive was the original drive.

My original drives had been in the closet since last November. So the program data needed updating but they ran fine for a couple of weeks until I put the new drives in. I took a fresh backup after they updated and I used that one on the new drives.
